Kino unseen

An initiative born in 2017 from a passion for unconventional cinema, igniting a dynamic space for film enthusiasts to connect through screenings, workshops, and discussions.
Unseen emerged from the collaborative efforts of cultural advocates hailing from Croatia. Alarmed by the shrinking public spaces and lack of platforms for bold cinematic voices after the 90s, we decided to take action. We launched this initiative to challenge the status quo and fuel curiosity about the significance of (experimental) audio-visual content.
Five years of tireless advocacy and community engagement finally paid off. The beloved Cavtat summer cinema, dormant for 30 years, was resurrected in 2020, a triumphant return that resonated through the town.
At the heart of Unseen lies the stimulation of discourse and reflection. The initiative tackles critical themes like the artistic and social potential of public spaces, the dynamics between marginalized areas and urban centers, the challenges faced by young artists asserting their voices, and the exploration of artistic creation within the realm of new media.
